GOLD WINNING PROJECT

Yulin · Ueno Bookstore by BDSD Boundless Design

Memory in books is about the city and the self. Time passes in a bookstore in the middle of the city. The number of bookstores in a city is said to reflect its culture. In the witness of time and space, bookstores and cities coexist. You can visit a city, remember a city, and fall in love with a city. This is because bookstores serve as a warm repository of collective memory. This helps people learn about their city's past and future. Huizhou Wild Island Cultural Life Community is famous for its collection of Dongpo Temple, Yuedong Distillery, and East Lake Hotel. This is where the UenoUeno Book House is located. A scent of books awakens the industrial civilization buried in the depths of history. A city's past, its changes, and its memories are preserved, shaped, and regenerated over time. There are four seasons under the chimney and you are in the book.

Interior Design SILVER Winning Project Retail & Spatial

STUDIOUS Marunouchi by ODS / Oniki Design Studio

STUDIOUS WOMENS Marunouchi is a selection of apparel shops that introduce leading Japanese brands worldwide. Located inside the historic Marunouchi 2 chome Building, built in 1964, the store expresses STUDIOUS' untainted view of the world while leveraging the building's texture.

The original black marble walls are replaced on the façade by a gate in the brand's color. The store's interior is highlighted by these contrasting colors. A white wall accents the texture of the building structure and is made of electro-galvanized steel, glass, and electro-galvanized steel. The building's structure has been damaged by repeated remodeling works over the years, but it is carefully covered with glass so that customers can sense the city's history. A rhythmical sequence of strip lights is installed on the floor, ceiling, and columns.

By creating this space, we aim to blend fashion, which is always striving for newness, with the memories of the city that form its foundation.

Interior Design Bronze Winning Project Retail & Spatial

BALMUDA The Store Aoyama by NIKKEN SPACE DESIGN LTD.

Balmuda was founded in 2003 in Tokyo as a creative and technological company. Among its competitors, it stands out for its innovative products and novel ideas. This first flagship project is located in Aoyama, Tokyo, home to some of the world's most luxurious global brands. Through the project, we aim to embody the brand's worldview while exploring a new role for retail stores, as well as the relationship between stores, products, and customers.

"Museum + Bar" is the design concept.

The "Museum" concept allows customers to experience modern art as if they were in a museum on the first floor. The central display counter displays sleek products on striking layers of solid oak. The retail display can be divided into several modules to provide a flexible approach. Additionally, the white fixture to the side can be easily reconfigured to suit various presentations and requirements. There is a bar-like space on the second floor, which evokes images of the products as they might be used at home. You can directly "experience" the products while being supported by experts, which promotes spontaneous interactions between guests and staff. In addition to serving as an axis for interactive services, the multi-counter with integrated cooking equipment also functions as a unit for workshops and demonstrations.

The space offers guests a unique opportunity to fully appreciate products with all five senses in a live and interactive setting during a time when e-commerce is widely used and people's activities are restricted in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. Among the key materials used are fair-faced concrete and Belgian antique bricks. While the products are stylish and smooth, their heavily scratched and weathered surfaces create a nostalgic ambiance while emanating strength.
