THE CAMPUS CREATION PLACE "BOXX" / HIVERARY by KOKUYO Co.,Ltd. (Japan)
At Kokuyo's headquarters, "THE CAMPUS," the employee attendance rate has recovered to pre-pandemic levels. However, we kept having online meetings in the office. As a result, Kokuyo's creative strength, driven by "Co⁻Creation with empathy," was not fully realized, leading to a decrease in employee engagement. To address this issue, two new areas were created: CREATION PLACE "BOXX" and HIVERARY. The goal is to create a cycle where employees come to the office, feel connected with their colleagues, and experience contributing to society, ultimately leading to increased engagement.
The 1st floor "CREATION PLACE 'BOXX'" was newly established as a hub to nurture Kokuyo's unique creativity, and to engage in collaborative creation with society. This area will be used as a pop-up space for new product test marketing and sustainable activities involving local residents and workers. It will also serve as a co-creation space where workshops and brainstorming sessions will be held with both internal and external partners to address social issues.
The 2nd floor "HIVERARY" was created as a space to inspire employees through interactions with colleagues and facilitate co-creative outputs. It aims to be a place where both the company and individuals can mutually grow and support each other.

Additionally, to explore sustainability that reflects Kokuyo's values, three initiatives were undertaken: On the 1st floor, Kokuyo engaged in a "Zero Waste Construction" project, aiming for a 100% recycling rate of waste generated during the demolition of existing areas. By carefully sorting and processing the waste, the project achieved a 96.2% recycling rate. A long table made from recycled resin materials, sourced from Kokuyo's own factory, was installed to raise awareness among employees about the importance of a circular economy. On the 2nd floor, the black steel racks that had been key objects in the existing area were reused, with significant changes made to their color and shape. By reusing these items, the amount of waste was reduced, and similar to the 1st floor, the space was transformed into one that communicates the message of promoting a circular society.
